Initially produced for inclusion in a guidebook, this plan highlights the main areas of the garden as well as showing the location of the main facilities accessible to the public. This map has subsequently been used for signage on site as well as in other written publications relating to the garden.
This map uses a simple, flat colouring scheme. The main function of this plan is to help people navigate their way around the garden. Excessive levels of textural detail may have reduced the effectiveness of the plan within that context.
This map was compiled from a series of existing plans of the garden in conjunction with other written information. A variety of source materials were required as, at the time of compilation, large areas of the garden were under redevelopment. This provided an additional challenge; making sure that the map would still be useful once the work had been completed.
